We’ve been making our way through All Stars Montessori and spending time in some of the classrooms to see what the
Their morning begins with group time and this week the children are learning all about “Community Helpers”. Today they had a special visitor from the Apple Valley fire department that shared all the things she does while she’s on the job. The children had a lot of questions for her and she shared important information about fire safety. With all the snow we’ve been getting, she reminded us to make sure that the fire hydrants are clear of snow so that the fire trucks can get to them. She has a very important job in our community! After learning about community helpers, the children were talking all about what they want to be when they grow up!
During morning work time, Ms. Lynnsey and Ms. Hannah introduced the children to some new Practical Life works. An important part of Montessori is making sure the children know how to use the materials properly so that when they explore them they will be able to learn the concepts being taught.
Also, during work time, Ms. Lynnsey and Ms. Hannah paired the older preschoolers up with some of their younger peers. This gave the older children the chance to practice patience and leadership while the younger children had the chance to learn from their older peers. The mixed ages in the Montessori preschool class provide many opportunities for the children to work together like this!
The long and cold winter continues to keep us from getting outside to expend our energy but fortunately, Ms. Gina from Jumpin’ Jax Fitness was there to show us all sorts of fun new exercises. The children got to dance with ribbons, crawl through tunnels, bounce on balls and they even got to have an indoor “snowball” fight with luffas! Ms. Gina had everyone tired out and ready to fill their tummies with lunch and then rest their bodies during quiet time.
It was so much fun spending time with Ms. Lynnsey, Ms. Hannah and all the preschoolers in the Moon Room. Thanks for letting us join the fun!
